SARMISTHA CONFESSES HER ROLE IN MANAS MURDER CASE

Bhubaneswar: During marathon interrogation by the Crime Branch officials, prime accused in cameraman Manas Swain murder case Sarmistha Rout is stated to have confessed her involvement in the crime.
Sarmistha admitted that she had kidnapped Manas from Palaspur under Chandbali police limits in Bhadrak with the help of her associates and took him to Dayal Ashram in Bhubaneswar where he was brutally assaulted leading to his death. Later, they disposed of his body in Nayagarh district.
Sarmistha and her associate Jhuna had purchased a jute bag, gloves and rope from Unit-1 market in Bhubaneswar. On the way, the two had also bought 10 kg salt from Rajsunakhala in Nayagarh district for the purpose of faster decomposition of the body.
On Friday morning, Sarmistha was taken to Palaspur in Chandbali where Manas had gone to shoot video at a wedding. She showed the spot near Dola Mandap at Badhimuha Sahi where they had hatched the plan to kidnap Manas. Later, she was taken to Dayal Ashram in Bhubaneswar where Manas was held hostage after abduction and subsequently killed. Sarmistha reportedly broke down while recreating the crime scene at Dayal Ashram.
