Rs 4 Cr Worth Contraband  Drugs Seized At Bhubaneswar Airport, Kerala Man Held

Bhubaneswar: Personnel of the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) and the Customs Department seized contraband drugs and marijuana worth Rs 4 crore at the Biju Patnaik International Airport (BPIA) in Bhubaneswar on Tuesday night and arrested a man from Kerala for smuggling it.

According to reports, the arrested man was transporting the marijuana processed in Germany from Bangkok to Bhubaneswar by hiding it in biscuit packets.

Acting on a tip-off, DRI and Customs officials laid a trap to trap the accused when he landed from an aircraft from Bangkok.

Thorough checking of his luggage revealed the concealed marijuana worth Rs 4 crore.

The man is being interrogated to identify the other members of this drugs smuggling racket.

The Customs Commissionerate had also seized marijuana from two female passengers at the Bhubaneswar airport on Jan 6. Both women had arrived at BPIA from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
