RK MISSION’S PHILANTHROPIC INITIATIVES IN RAYAGADA
Rayagada (Badal Tah): Ramakrishna Mission Ashrama, Hatamuniguda under its Distress Relief Program distributed 100 ltrs mixed fruit juice, 100 kg Glucon C, 100 Water bottles, 200 Ball pens, 200 pkts Colour Sketch Pens (6 in each packet), 200 pcs Tooth brush and 200 bottles Amla hair oil among 100 tribal students of Nysasdri Educational Complex, Hukumtala of Rayagada district last Thursday.
A Maternity and Child Welfare Services Programme with the support of Infosys Foundation was organized in which 36 antenatal and postnatal mothers and 20 children (upto the age of 3 years) were benefitted. The service included general health check-ups, supply of medicines, nutritional food supplements (Soya chunks, Moong Dal, Chattu, Rajma, Dates, Amul spray), sanitary and baby care items and counselling on nutrition, pre and post-natal wellbeing and maternal care by two doctors.
Mission Ashrama organised an Awareness Programme on Health and Hygiene in its Vivekananda Hall. The programme aimed at sensitizing the students on essential aspects of health and hygiene. Dr. P. K. Mishra, MD, Paediatrics, Medical Officer, OUAT, Chiplima, taled on the basic concepts of health and diseases explaining multiple dimensions of achieving good health. It was followed by a session by Dr. Mamata Sar, Prof. and Head, Department of Anatomy, VIMSAR, Burla. She spoke at length about the role of hygiene in maintaining good health.
Ashrama’s philanthropic initiatives in a mission mode round its periphery have been highly appreciated by local communities, especially poor tribals.
