Rightful demand of renowned film-actress Kangna Ranaut to know country as “BHARAT

New Delhi:It refers to rightful demand by film-actress Kangna Ranaut to know country simply as Bharat and not as India. Uttar Pradesh state-assembly once passed an unanimous resolution in this regard. Perhaps ours is the only country which is constitutionally known by two different names Bharat and India out of which the later is given by erstwhile British rulers in the country who tried their level best to destruct culture of the country. Other countries also earlier under British rule have already changed their names like from Ceylon to Srilanka and from Burma to Myanmar.

Distorted spellings of names of several cities have already been corrected as per their actual pronunciation like in case Jalandhar, Shimla etc, spellings of names of many other many other cities shockingly including capital city Delhi, Meerut, Bareilly should also be changed in one go. Even several other countries have changed spellings of their capital cities like Beijing (Peking), Dhaka (Dacca) by China, Bangladesh etc. Rather distorted name and spelling of Delhi (Dilli) should be changed in all languages as its real name Dehli which in English means Entrance.

Central government should also accept long-pending resolution of West Bengal state assembly to rename the state as Bangla. Only old-timers know that since western part of pre-independence undivided Bengal came to India, the state was named as West Bengal, and East Bengal turned into East Pakistan (now Bangladesh). New generation is confused why and how a state in eastern part of the country is named with prefix West.

Constitution should be amended whereby names of all institutions including High Courts named after states or cities may be auto-changed with change in names of state or city. Names of Bombay High Court and Madras High Court still remain the same despite renaming of respective cities as Mumbai and Chennai decades back. There are too many Rampurs and Bilaspurs in India which require renaming to avoid confusion. New names can be after heroic characters of Ramayan and Mahabharat.
