R’gda denizens approach SP to initiate civic action

Rayagada, July 10: Development process gets accelerated a step further when the relationship between the district administration & general public starts strengthening.
This has been well reflected in case of Rayagada Police & Public.
During an interface between the district police under the leadership of Sri Vivekananda Sharma & members of Rayagada Nagarika Manch(RNM), several issues and prospects were discussed. RNM, consisting of senior citizens, tribal leaders, senior scribes, eminent educationists and advocates, emphasized on regularisation of land on which famous Kali Temple of Rayagada is built. Sharma has assured that he will facilitate a process through which, the land, which belongs to Home Deptt, will be vested with the Temple Management Committee.
He was requested to help shifting of Gundicha temple to near over-bridge as suggested by dist administration to take care of traffic issues, instruct Executive Engineer-Electricals to fix street lights on Sai International-Swarga Dwar Siriguda road for safety of morning walkers on this road, rehabilitate street vendors, especially the tribal women vendors, before evicting them, initiate community policing in municipality wards & villages around, clear road encroachments by shopping establishments, contain intoxicants in Prem Pahad, issue Senior Citizen ID cards in the peripheral villages like Ramachandrapur, Pitamahal, Kotlaguda, Tumbiguda, Oduguda, Chekaguda, Mankadajhola & other habitations, ensure Safety & Security at Cantilever bridge by revamping the lost beauty of the place, stop teasing of girls of GCD, Municipality, Girls high schools especially during noon & 4 o’clock, etc. Some civic action programmes should be started in peripheral villages in collaboration with local civil societies which will strengthen the relationship between public & police. Sharma has assured the netizens to act upon these suggestions in a phased manner but within the ambit of rules of law.
The members applauded the humanistic role of SP Sharma meeting the very old mother of social worker Gouri Mishra, who was recently shot dead by assailants. They praised the sincerity and commitment of a home guard named Ashok Kumar Padhi and requested Sharma to felicitate him as token of encouragement for other police personnel. Deepak Kumar Prusty, Ajay Rath, Jogeswar Das, Rasmi Ranjan Dora, Ranjan Rath, Rabindra Patakhandal, Badal kumar Tah, Jalandhar Pusika, Niranjan Palo and others took part in this Public-Police interface. Sri Bishnu Patra, Additional SP was told to follow-up the suggestions of RNM.
