REPATRIATION OF VICTIM GIRLS OF BANGLADESH

Bhubaneswar In a case of immoral trafficking, four accused persons have been arrested and eight victim girls have been rescued by STF.

 All the accused persons were produced before the court and were sent to judicial custody and currently are in Jail.All the Victim girls were produced before Honorable Court and later lodged at Swadhar Gruh (Shelter House)..

 During course of investigation, it was found that seven out of eight victim girls were illegally trafficked from Bangladesh and were forced into prostitution. One victim girl was from Kolkata, West Bengal who has already been handed over to her family member as per direction of the Hon’ble Court of SDJM, Bhubaneswar.

For the rest of seven victim girls, process for repatriation to their home country (Bangladesh) has already been initiated by STF as per the provision and guidelines of Government of India, Ministry of Home affairs (Foreigners Division). The process has been laid down in line with the SAARC convention and UNODC (United Nation Office on Drugs and Crime) of which India is a signatory and emphasizes on Victim centric approach in these cases.

STF is in touch with Ministry of external affairs (Consular Division), Patiala House, New Delhi for early repatriation of the victim girls. In turn, they will move BDHC (Bangladesh High commission) for nationality and other verifications of victim girls from Bangladesh. After getting verification, High Commission issues travel permit for victims. Once travel permit is obtained than after some legal and administrative formalities victims will be handed over to BGB (Border guard Bangladesh) through BSF (Border Security force).
