Rayagada, July 6: Being sensitive to the safety & security of offices of SP, Collector, DFO, BDO and other inhabitants of the residential areas near Mother Kali Goddess Temple at Rayagada & traffic issues during Kali Puja, Rayagada SP Vivekananda Sharma wrote to Collector to initiate necessary steps. After being pointed out by higher authorities about the height of the temple and encroachment of land, Sharma wrote to Collector about the possibility of sniper attack of the offices around & requested her to conduct a field inquiry.
Through this letter, he, in fact, sensitised the local denizens and Management of Kali Puja Temple Committee members. Though his letter actually meant about the safety of the temple still under construction, there was a rumour that the Kali Temple would be demolished. Sharma strongly refuted the rumour. He said that he only requested the Collector for a field inquiry and nothing beyond. He assured the public to facilitate regularisation of the land belonging to Home deptt in the name of Kali Puja Temple Management Committee. After hearing the grievance of the devoutees, Collector Swadha Dev Singh also opined the same way as that of SP.
“When Govt of Odisha is on a spree to revive and renovate religious places of importance, it is expected that pro-active steps by SP Sharma like transfer of land to Temple Management Committee from the Home Deptt, permanent solution to traffic issues, safety & security of all the stakeholders, etc will go a long way.
This will also pave the way for mobilising resources from Govt, Corporate, devoutees and philanthropists. If the public and administration work hand in hand, the temple development will witness sea changes. Both Collector and SP have respected the religious sentiments of devoutees and are following rule of law”, said Sri Ranjan Rath, Organising Secretary of Rayagada Nagarika Manch.
