Rayagada police successfully bust robbery by inter-state gang

Rayagada (Badal Tah): Five inter-state burglars got arrested last Tuesday by Rayagada Police with few foreign currency notes & huge silver ornaments. They are identified as Asraful Sheikh(23) from West Bengal, Roni Sheikh(32) from Madhya Pradesh, Mohammed Alamin(27), Sheikh Babu(29) and Sameer Sheikh(34) from Chhattisgarh. They had planned for robbery in Bilaspur. They stayed in a rented house near Jagannath temple
Police achieved this success through reviewing CCTV footage. The gang was successful in committing thefts at night after marking roadside locked houses in the town on the pretext of collecting plastic bottles. They were taking food in Jan Aahar Kendra. They purchased some medicines from the local medicine stores and kept themselves intoxicated & hunger free during day time and looted the houses previously marked during day time.
Earlier they were involved in three cases of theft. Rayagada PS Case No. 164/2025, 173/2025 and 181/2025 were registered against them on the basis of written reports of complainant Gauri Shankar from Raniguda Farm, Prasad Patra, Ramesh Kumar of New Colony, and Sudhir Kumar Padhi of Gautam Nagar. Lock breaking equipment, silver ornaments, cash amounting Rs 29,700, three mobile phones and foreign currency notes were seized from them, said IIC KKBK Kahanr, who has requested the houseowners to verify documents of tenants before giving rent to them and inform police about it. Rayagada police busting the robbery racket in less than a week has been applauded by locals.
