Putin to Visit India This Month, Confirms NSA Doval In Moscow
New Delhi: Russian President Vladimir Putin is set to visit India soon, National Security Adviser Ajit Doval announced during his visit to Moscow on Thursday.
While exact dates are yet to be finalized, Russian news agency Interfax reported that the visit will likely take place in late August.
The high-level visit comes at a sensitive time, as the United States has warned of imposing secondary tariffs on countries purchasing Russian oil, unless Moscow agrees to pause its ongoing war in Ukraine by Friday. India has maintained strong energy ties with Russia despite Western pressure.
Meanwhile, the Kremlin confirmed that Putin is also expected to meet US President Donald Trump in the coming days. Russian Foreign Affairs Adviser Yuri Ushakov said that the venue has been agreed upon and will be announced shortly.
Putin’s upcoming diplomatic engagements signal Moscow’s attempt to balance relations with both India and the US, even as global tensions over the Ukraine conflict escalate into economic threats and geopolitical maneuvering.
