Poor Quality of Chatua Distribution at Gajapati

Paralakhemundi: Through WCD(Woman & Child Development) now in all 30 districts Chatua otherwise called barley supplied to all anganwadi centres in Odisha. To decentralize even SHGs too have given responsibilities on processing of chatua & equitable distributions.

For lactating & maternity care mothers, adolescent girls and 6 months to 3 years children such nutritional food are being supplied. For proper monitoring Sub Collector is overall authority to monitor equitable distribution, where at block level CDPO to handle on proper distribution through ICDS Supervisors. Started as THR (take home ration) for beneficiaries on every first week of month to meet their monthly nutritional fooding of above those category beneficiaries. At Mohana block too innovation started with millets procured ingredients to help those malnutrition cases of both mothers and new born children.

Despite all attempts irregularities on supply of those chatua packets found. For pregnant & lactating mothers are to get yellow packets of chatua each 4.410 gms,but weighed to 2kgs.Same cases for 6 months to 3 years children assured to get 2.205 gms but actually they are getting 1.370gms weighed green packet. For 1.350 kgs of suji to be assured to get but actually they are supplied 800/900 gms.

Among those sufferers from RUdayagiri block of Ramgiri, Anagha, Tabarsing, Sialilati panchayats where need to upgrade against malnutrition those interior panchayats deprived to get actual weight of chatua packets.

When allegations made to CDPO RUdayagiri Abida Parveen,she is remaining silent on such dire straits affairs of chatua distributions.crores of rupees pumped for nutritional food distributions but middlemen mishandling is now an open scenario.

Sarpanch of Ramgiri Adikand Karjee said despite several complain nobody serious on distributions of quality and assured nutritional food supply. Who knows we may invite malnutrition which may tarnish health conditions of both maternity care and lactating mothers and new born babies. As district administrator of ICDS,need of Sub Collector’s intervention is imminent, he added.
