Police Seize 22Kg.Ganja in Berhampur

Berhampur: Over 22 Kg of Ganja has been seized from on NH 16 near Haladiapadar here in outskirt of the Berhampur city and two persons have been arrested in this connection.
ASP, Prabhat Routray said, on receipt of reliable information regarding transportation of contraband Ganja, IIC, Gosaninuagaon, Tuesday evening around 6.45PM was intercepting movement of Vehicles on NH 16 near Haladiapadar. The Inspector in Charge and his staff detained an Activa Motorcycle being driven by Balaram Behera of Lochapada who was transporting the contraband from marijuana-growing districts Phulbani to Bhubaneswar.
While the search was made in presence of G O at the spot they found 21.625 Kgs of Ganja and the contraband was packed in two bags. Police recovered from the exclusive and conscious possession of the duo Balaram Behera and the pillion rider Sujit Kumar Das.Both from Lochapada location of Berhampur city. We suspect and our preliminary inquiry showed that the contraband transportation by the duo not new and they may be habitual peddlers.
One Scooty bearing Regd.No-OD07AE-2183 used for transportation and the Ganja Seized by Police. The Gosaninuagaon police registered a case u/s 20(b)(II C)/25 NDPS act, he added.
Investigation is on to find out how they procured the Ganja and their involvement into this illegal business, said Sumeet Soren, Inspector In-Charge of Gosaninuagaon.
