PM Modi lays foundation stone of Rayagada Railway Division: CM Mohan Majhi declares Rs. 1.5 lakh crores investment, a medical college and a green field air port in Rayagada
Rayagada (Badal Tah) : Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone of Rayagada Railway Division Building of East Coast Railway through video conferencing. Extending his greetings on the occasion of Shri Guru Gobind Singhji Jayanti, the PM emphasized that his teachings and life inspires the vision of a strong and prosperous nation. Lauding Bharat’s fast-paced progress in connectivity, Modi stated that since the start of 2025, India has been accelerating its initiatives with its metro rail network expanding to over 1000 kilometers. Modi added that this event is a further testimony to the fact that the entire nation is moving forward together, step by step, as projects launched in Jammu and Kashmir, Odisha and Telangana mark a major leap in modern connectivity for these the north, east and south regions of the country. He reiterated that the mantra of ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas’ is helping turn the vision of a developed India into reality. He congratulated the people of Odisha and all citizens of India on these developments.
The PM highlighted that Odisha is blessed with abundant natural resources and a large coastline, and holds significant potential for international trade. He said that several railway projects worth over ₹70,000 crores are ongoing in the state, along with the establishment of seven Gati Shakti cargo terminals, which are boosting trade and industry. Modi stated that the foundation stone has been laid for the Rayagada Railway Division in Odisha, which will strengthen the state’s railway infrastructure promoting tourism, business, and employment in Odisha specially South Odisha, where the number of tribal families is higher.
The Union Minister of Railways, Information and Broadcasting, Electronics & Information Technology, Shri Ashwini Vaishnaw, Union Minister & Governor of Odisha, Shri Hari Babu Kambhampati took part in Video conference. Chief Minister of Odisha Mohan Charan Majhi, Minister of State for Railways Ravneet Singh Bittu; Nityananda Gond-Odisa minister for SC-ST-OBC & Education & SSEPD, Bhalabhadra Majhi MP Nabarangpur; Saptagiri Shankar Ulaka MP Koraput, Dr Pradeep Panigrahi MP Barhampur, Malvika Devi MP Kalahandi, Kadraka Appala Swami, MLA Rayagada, Parmeshwar Funkwal, General Manager, ECo Railway and Manoj Kumar Sahu DRM Waltair, were present among other dignitaries at the event.
Prime Minister said that Rayagada Railway Division will improve connectivity in Odisha, Andhra Pradesh and nearby areas and lead to overall socio-economic development of the region.
After the inaugural speech by PM and concluding speech by CM, Mohan addressed the press and declared that Rs.1.5 lakhs crores will be invested in Rayagada and Koraput districts and pave way for all round development of this tribal region and generate gamut of business and employment. “Our Govt is committed to establish a medical college in the district in near future. So also a green field airport”, said Majhi.
Rayagada Nagarika Mancha expressed its gratitude to CM Majhi for giving this great gift to Rayagada netizens on the eve of his birth day. The outfit appreciated Majhi being with the people of Rayagada and celebrating his birth day among Rayagada people as People’s CM. In spite of paucity of time he walked out of the circuit house and walked among the people upto Sanskruti Bhawan to personally receive the grievances and floral tributes from individuals & local civic bodies.
