Plantation drive under global campaign #EkPedMaaKeNaam’
The ICAR-Research Complex for Eastern Region, Patna launched a plantation drive under the global campaign ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ (#Plant4Mother) at Sabjapura farm of the institute on August 29, 2024, where more than 200 saplings were planted by the officers and employees of the institute, which mainly included the plants of Mahogany, Arjun, Kadam, Jamun etc. The whole programme was conducted under the guidance of Dr. Anup Das, Director, ICAR-RCER, Patna.
On this occasion, Acting Director Dr. Ashutosh Upadhyaya stressed the importance of programme and informed the participants that there is an unbreakable relationship between environment and life. Every individual must bear the obligation for environmental conservation. Trees play a crucial role in maintaining a clean environment. “Planting trees is a vital step towards sustainable agriculture. Trees contribute to higher agricultural output by enhancing soil and water quality and promoting biodiversity”, said Dr. Upadhyaya.
Dr. Kamal Sarma, Dr. Ujjwal Kumar, Dr. A.K. Chaudhary, Dr. Abhay Kumar, Dr. N. Bhakt., Dr. Santosh Kumar, Sh. Vipul Raj, Sh. Rajat Kumar Das, Dr. Rachna Dubey, Sh. P.K. Singh, Sh. Anil Kumar, Sh. A.S. Mahapatra, Sh. Sanjay Rajput, Sh. Sajid Mustaque, Sh. Manoj Sinha, Sh. Rashmikant, Sh. Umesh Kumar Mishra and other officers and employees enthusiastically participated in the programme and pledged to plant as many trees as possible. The program was coordinated by Dr. P.C. Chandran and Dr. Abhishek Kumar.
Apart from the main campus, the officers and employees of its Research Centre, Ranchi; Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Buxar and Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Ramgarh also massively organized the programme in their locations. The Ranchi centre planted more than 300 tree saplings whereas KVK, Buxar and KVK, Ramgarh planted more than 60 and 50 tree plants, respectively.
