Para athletes from Rayagada district show by winning eight medals in State level sports competition

Rayagada, February 11:Six Paral athletes from Rayagada district have achieved success in state level para sports competition held at the Kalinga Stadium at Bhubaneswar. Bikas Mahanandia won a silver medal in long jump/high jump, Bikas Majhi won a gold medal in discus throw, Bipin Majhi won a gold medal in 100m and 400m races, silver in 100m race and bronze medal in shot put. Odisha Para Sports Association and District Para Sports Association, Rayagada have applauded five Divyang brothers and sisters, who made Rayagada proud by winning these medals. Jashoda Khosla and Renga Puala wom silver medals in shot put. Apart from this, Rohit Naik and Rahit Naik have also been selected in other sports and are continuing their training for the ensuing competition. It is worth mentioning that senior journalist and social worker of Rayagada district Badal Kumar Tah facilitated train tickets, sports jerseys and food for seventeen para players, who went to Bhubaneswar to participate in state level para sports competition. Divyang Mitra and Vice President of Para Sports Association, Rayagada Bijay Kumar Melaka and Member Raghunath Patra assisted the players for their journey to Bhubaneswar from Rayagada Railway Station.

State Sports Department Deputy Secretary Amit Kumar Nayak was the Chief Guest, Rotary President Manoj Kumar Tripathi was the Guest of Honour, Para Sports Association President Kamalakanta Rath, Secretary Sunil Pradhan and Odisha Vikalang Manch, Secretary of Rayagada Vikalang Manch and President of Para Sports Association, Rayagada Jalandhar Bacheli were the prominent personalities present on the dias to felicitate the winners, who brought laurels to the district. After this news got spread in Rayagada, there was a wave of happiness among the Divyangs of Rayagada district.
