Padmashri Santi Devi No More

Gunupur-Seva Samaj an active Institute & organization for orphan & destitute children lost their Founder Padmashri Santi Devi yesterday night. She felt cold & fever & at mid night she lost her last breath. She was 88.

Born on 18th April 1934 at Balasore, inspired with principles of social activities. She married to Dr. Ratan Das, great disciple of Mahatma Gandhi. The couple initiated their creativity to wards grassroots by opening an Ashram at Gobarapalli of Rayagada district. Later on they established Seva Samaj at Gunupur with profound interest to build humanity among orphan & destitute children. They are imparted with education & vocational skill orientations. During Covid-19 they made masks & other essential items like regular use soaps, even trained to kneet wool to make sweaters. Those are creamy layers where those children got apt happiness from Santi Devi.

On 1994 she was awarded with Jamunalal Bazaz & also Radhanath Rath Peace award with many more state awards. With Dr. Ratan Das & other Sarvodaya workers moved throughout Maoist prone districts to campaign on Non-violence to grassroot society. Odisha & backward society lost a charismatic woman reformer Santi Devi,who recently coveted with Padmashri award from President Ramnath Kovind.
