OYO files police complaint against Manas Ranjan Jena for assault and intimidation
Puri, December 2025: OYO Hotels has lodged a First Information Report (FIR) at Baliapanda Police Station, Puri, against its hotel operator Manas Ranjan Jena for assaulting and threatening its employees at an OYO-operated property in Puri, Odisha. The complaint has been filed by OYO’s Nodal Officer, Madhusudan Nayak, in relation to incidents that took place on December 9, 2025, at Hotel BB Palace, Sipasarubali, Baliapanda, Puri.

According to the written complaint, OYO employee Sandeep Dannana visited the property in the afternoon on December 9, 2025 to verify revenue details and collect excess cash from the operator as per the terms of the operating agreement. While he was checking the accounts, the property managerKishan assaulted him, threw his mobile phone, and, along with a housekeeping worker named Balia, attempted to attack him with a rod while issuing threats to kill him.
The complaint further states that another OYO employee, Bimal Baral, who rushed to the spot to protect Sandeep was also assaulted. OYO has alleged that its employees were subjected to physical violence, criminal intimidation and threats of false implication in cases, thereby creating an unsafe environment for OYO staff working at the property.
In the FIR, OYO has named the operator, Manas Ranjan Jena, along with his associates and staff members identified as Kishan, Prudhvi, Balia and Dileep, as accused. OYO has also stated that the operator has allegedly failed to clear outstanding dues of approximately Rs 31 lakhs payable to the company over the last seven months, and that the harassment and assault of its employees appear to be an attempt to evade lawful payment obligations and misappropriate OYO’s money.
Based on the written complaint, Baliapanda Police Station has registered an FIR under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023, including provisions relating to assault, causing hurt, criminal breach of trust, misappropriation and criminal intimidation. The case has been taken up for investigation by the local police, and OYO has requested strong and immediate action against the accused to ensure safety and protection of its employees on the ground.
