Over 500 retired officials appointed as OSD during BJD govt in Odisha

Bhubaneswar : Over 500 retired officials were appointed as Officer on Special Duty (OSD) in 41 departments during the previous BJD government in Odisha.

The BJP had several times opposed the out sourcing policy of the former government and made it a point during its poll campaign. Now, the ruling BJP has started listing out the retired officials appointed in various departments and the number has crossed 500-mark, said a senior official of the state secretariat.

The highest number of retired officials have been reappointed in the Department of Housing and Urban Development.

OAS officer Sangramjit Nayak who retired as a promoted IAS officer has been reappointed as the Additional Secretary & Mission Director of Swachh Bharat Mission (Urban) in the department.

Similarly, Sanjay Kumar Pramanik has been appointed as Special Secretary in the department for the last two years after his retirement from Indian Railway Personnel Service (IRPS). Pradipta Kumar Mohapatra is appointed as Chief Engineer – cum – Additional Secretary after his retirement from NALCO. He is also the heading the procurement committee for the last ten years.

Several other officials have been appointed in BDA and BMC under the Department of Housing and Urban Development. BMC’s former chief engineer Arun Kumar Nayak has been appointed as advisor post retirement.
