Over 1.22 Crs Gold Biscuits Seized In Berhamour

Berhampur: Excise officials with the support of Baidyanatpur Polie officials have seized gold biscuits worth over 1.2 crores during checking for ganja at Lanjipalli in Berhampur area of Ganjam district on Tuesday.
Sources reveal , a team of Excise officials led by Inspector Hrudyachandra Samanta Vishnu Prasad Pati SDPO City,Bibhuti Sethi and Ms Anjali of BN pur policestation had intercepted a government bus . During checking, they found some passengers carrying a lot of cash and gold biscuits in their bags.
The Baidyanathpur Police reached the spot and arrested a man named Bharat Gokhe Naik, a gold merchant from Maharashtra, along with some gold merchants from Berhampur.
During interrogation, Naik said that he brought gold from Maharashtra and sold it here. It is suspected that they were trying to evade tax.All the buyers being called by the police for necessary intorgation and support kit for the investigation.The Investigatio is still open.
