“Onsite Emergency Mock Drill” Conducted at Utkal Alumina Demonstrating Safety Commitment.

Rayagada, Doraguda, 26th May 2023 – Utkal Alumina International Limited (UAIL), a subsidiary of Hindalco Industries Limited of Aditya Birla Group, recently demonstrated its unwavering dedication to safety by conducting a comprehensive onsite emergency mock drill at its Doraguda Plant. The drill aimed to assess the emergency preparedness plan and evaluate standard operational protocols, ensuring that all personnel are well-prepared to respond effectively in emergencies to safeguard lives and assets.
The mock drill scenario simulated a fire in the LDO (Light Diesel Oil) tank, caused by an electrical spark during a scheduled pump changeover. Dignitaries and observers present during the drill included Mr. S. N Sethi, Deputy Director of Factories and Boilers Rayagada Division, Mr. Ranjit Nayak, Assistant Director of Factories and Boilers Rayagada Zone, Mr. Kailash Chandra Pradhan, Odisha Fire Services, Rayagada District, and Mr. Malay Kumar Majhi, ASI of Police, Doraguda P.S.
The mock drill was efficiently overseen by Mr. Jai Tiwari, Head of Safety, Fire & OHC, and Mr. Supravat Roy Choudhry, Engineering Head, CPP, andMr. Kausikisaran Mishra, Head of Operations, Refinery. Their presence ensured a seamless execution of the drill. The enthusiastic participation of the mock drill teams showcased their dedication and unwavering commitment to safety.
The combat team, rescue team, and auxiliary team, along with their respective members, carried out the mock drill in coordination with the site incident controller, adhering to the defined procedures and completing the exercise promptly. The firefighting and rescue systems demonstrated during the drill received appreciation from government officials. Despite challenging weather conditions, the mock drill was successfully organized, further enhancing the organization’s emergency response capabilities.
