Bhubaneswar: July 18: Odisha has been honored with the ‘Bhoomi Samman Award 2023’ as the best state in the country for its outstanding achievements in the implementation of the Digital India Land Records Modernization Programme (DILRMP).

Odisha has been a pioneer state in the digitization of land records and public services under the direction of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik and by adhering to the 5T Mantra and “Mo Sarkar” principles.

President Draupadi Murmu has conferred the prestigious award in Vigyan Bhawan. The Odisha team was represented by Satyabrata Sahu, Additional Chief Secretary to the Government, Revenue & DM Department, and other officers of the Revenue & DM Department.

Speaking on the occasion, the President said that acceleration of rural development is essential for the overall development of the country. For the development of rural areas, modernization of land records is a basic requirement as the livelihood of most of the rural population is dependent on land resources. A comprehensive integrated land management system is of utmost importance for the overall development of rural areas.

19 districts in Odisha, out of the 68 districts in the nation, have achieved 100% of the DILRMP’s objectives and won prestigious awards.

19 districts, including Angul, Boudh, Bargarh, Bhadrak, Deogarh, Dhenkanal, Gajapati, Ganjam, Jagatsinghpur, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Keonjhar, Khordha, Koraput, Nabarangpur, Nayagarh, Nuapada, Rayagada, and Sambalpur, received the Bhoomi Samman Award from the President of India. The districts were represented by their concerned collectors/ADMs.
