Odisha To Implement New Syllabus For Classes 1 to 8 Under NEP From 2026-27 Session

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government has decided to introduce a new revised syllabus for school students of Class 1 to Class 8 as per the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, informed School and Mass Education Minister Nityananda Gond on Saturday.

The new syllabus will be introduced in the 2026-27 academic session.

This new syllabus for school students will put extra stress on language, culture, and heritage with an aim to promote regional traditions and identity among the new generation.

The minister also clarified the state government’s stance on School Admission Age. According to him, unlike the central guideline, which mandates children to complete 6 years by March 1, Odisha will require children to turn 6 years by September 1 for school admission.
