Odisha State Film Awards For 2020, 2021, 2022 Announced
Bhubaneswar: Daman was adjudged the Best Film for 2022 at the Odisha State Film Awards, announced today by Minister Suryabanshi Suraj at Bhubaneswar’s Sanskriti Bhawan. The honours recognise outstanding contributions to Odia cinema across multiple categories.
Actor Babushaan Mohanty was named the Best Actor for his powerful performance in Daman, while Lopamudra Mishra was named Best Actress for her role in Baura Hata Baksha.
In addition, celebrated filmmaker and theatre personality Ananta Mohapatra will be honoured with the Mohan Sunder Deb Goswami Award for the year 2020. Known for his extensive contributions to Odia cinema, Mohapatra’s recognition highlights his lifelong dedication to the art. Similarly, noted cinematographer Srinibas Mohapatra and veteran comedian Jairam Samal will receive the same award for 2021 and 2022 respectively. The Mohan Sunder Deb Goswami Award, conferred by the Odia Language, Literature and Culture Department, includes a cash prize of ₹5 lakh along with a citation.
The awards ceremony covers three years, with winners selected across 33 categories for 2020, 2021 and 2022.
Minister Suryabanshi Suraj announced the best films for each year: Saheed Raghu Sardar (2020), Pratiksha and Dalchini (2021) and Daman (2022). The Best Actor awards for these years went to Debashis Patra (2020), Ankit Kumar and Dipanwit Das Mohapatra (2021), and Babushaan Mohanty (2022), further recognising the stellar performances that have marked recent Odia cinema.
