Odisha Sniffer Dog Heads to Kerala to Support Wayanad Landslide Rescue Efforts
Bhubaneswar: In a bid to bolster rescue efforts in the aftermath of the devastating landslides in Wayanad, Kerala, a sniffer dog from the Odisha Police K9 squad has been dispatched to the disaster-stricken region.
Storm, a German Shepherd with specialised training in search and rescue operations, departed from Berhampur on Sunday along with a four-member police team. The team includes an inspector, two sub-inspectors, and the dog’s trainer.
The search for survivors has intensified as the tragic incident enters its sixth day. Over 350 people have lost their lives, with more than 200 still missing. The landslides have caused widespread destruction, with hundreds of homes, livestock, and other property damaged or swept away.
