Odisha: SIT To Probe Khallikote Pre-Poll Violence Resulting in BJP Worker’s Death

Bhubaneswar: A Special Investigation Team (SIT) has been tasked with investigating the pre-poll violence in Odisha’s Ganjam district, which resulted in the death of a BJP worker on May 15.

The SIT has been directed to submit a charge sheet within 30 days and arrest the perpetrators at the earliest.

RK Sharma, the Additional Director General of Police (Headquarters), will be stationed in Chatrapur to supervise the investigation and ensure the area’s law and order are maintained.

The violent clash occurred between ruling BJD and BJP supporters over election campaign posters in Srikrushnasaranapur village on Wednesday night. The conflict led to several serious injuries, including the deceased, identified as Dilip Pahan. Injured individuals were initially treated at Khallikote Hospital and then transferred to MKCG Medical College and Hospital in Berhampur as their conditions worsened. Unfortunately, Dilip Pahan succumbed to his injuries during treatment.

Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has condemned the violence and called for swift justice.
