Odisha Ministers Assigned Flag Hoisting Duties for 79th Independence Day

Bhubaneswar: As India prepares to mark its 79th Independence Day, the Odisha government has announced the official list of cabinet ministers who will hoist the national flag across various districts on August 15, 2025. This initiative reflects the state’s commitment to inclusive and regionally representative celebrations.

Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi will lead the state-level ceremony in Bhubaneswar, where he will hoist the tricolour in the capital city. The two Deputy Chief Ministers have also been given prominent roles: Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo will hoist the flag in Keonjhar, while Pravati Parida will do so in Cuttack.

A number of other ministers have been assigned to represent the government in different districts. Suresh Pujari, the Minister of Revenue and Disaster Management, will be in Sambalpur. Rabi Narayan Naik, Minister of Rural Development, will hoist the flag in Bolangir. Nityananda Gond, who heads the School and Mass Education department, will be in Kalahandi.Krushna Chandra Patra, Minister of Food Supplies and Consumer Welfare, will take part in the celebrations in Kandhamal. Law Minister Prithiviraj Harichandan has been assigned to Puri, while Health and Family Welfare Minister Mukesh Mahaling will be in Sundargarh.

Commerce and Transport Minister Bibhuti Bhusan Jena will hoist the flag in Gajapati. Krushna Chandra Mahapatra, Minister of Housing and Urban Development, will be in Bhadrak. Ganesh Ram Singhkhuntia, who oversees Forest, Environment and Climate Change, will represent the government in Nabarangpur.

Suryabanshi Suraj, Minister of Higher Education, will be in Sonepur. Pradeep Bal Samanta, Minister of Textiles and Handicrafts, will hoist the flag in Angul. Gokulananda Mallick, Minister of Fisheries and Animal Resources Development, will be in Rayagada. Finally, Industries Minister Sampad Chandra Swain will participate in the celebrations in Mayurbhanj.

This district-wise deployment of ministers ensures that the spirit of Independence Day is celebrated uniformly across Odisha, fostering unity and patriotic pride throughout the state.
