ODISHA HIGH COURT DIRECTED THE STATE GOVT. TO FILE COUNTER-AFFIDAVIT ON THE WAIVER OF SCHOOL FEES

CUTTACK:The Odisha High Court on Monday directed the State Government to file its counter-affidavit on the waiver of school fees in a week.
The direction has come after the hearing of the petition filed by the aggrieved parents of the school children praying for relaxation of school fees.
Earlier, the State School and Mass Education (S&ME) Department has already put forth the 7-slab fee relaxation proposal before the court.
State Government said there will be no relaxation for a student paying Rs 6,000 fee annually while 7.5% relaxation between Rs 6,000-Rs 12,000, 12% discount between Rs 12,000-Rs 24,000, 15% cut between Rs 24,000-Rs 48,000, 20% relaxation between Rs 48,000-Rs 72,000, 25% reduction between Rs 72,000-Rs 1,00,000, 26% relief in the deposit of annual school fees due over Rs 1,00,000.
This report was submitted with the High Court by the State Government on September 29 this year. The matter will again come up for hearing after the government submits the affidavit.
