Odisha Govt Reshuffles IAS Cadre, Appoints 9 New Sub-Collectors

Bhubaneswar: In a minor bureaucratic reshuffle, the Odisha government on Thursday transferred and reassigned responsibilities to a few senior IAS officers, while also appointing nine newly-inducted officers as Sub-Collectors across districts.

The General Administration and Public Grievance Department issued a formal notification detailing the changes.

Rajesh Prabhakar Patil, a 2005-batch IAS officer who was serving as Commissioner of Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC), has now been posted as Commissioner-cum-Secretary of the Co-operation Department. In addition, he has been entrusted with the additional charge of Special Secretary to the Housing and Urban Development Department and Chairman of the Odisha State Warehousing Corporation.

Samarth Verma (2011 batch), previously Director of Technical Education and Training, will now serve as Director of Minor Minerals. He has also been given the additional role of Managing Director of the Odisha Film Development Corporation.

Deepankar Mohapatra, a 2014-batch officer, has been appointed as the Chief Executive Officer of the Hockey Promotion Council of Odisha. He was previously functioning as Director of Sports.

Bijay Ketan Upadhyaya (2009 batch) will continue as Secretary to the Odia Language, Literature and Culture Department. Until now, he was serving as the department’s Director, with the additional charge of Director, Odisha Paribar.

The state government has also posted nine newly-inducted IAS officers, who have completed their foundational training, as Sub-Collectors in various districts across Odisha.
