ODISHA GOVT EXPECTING 5 LAKH PEOPLE FROM OTHER STATE ONCE THE LOCKDOWN IS OVER

Bhubaneswar: Odisha government is expecting 5 lakh people to return to the state from other states once the lockdown is over. The national lockdown is due to be lifted on May 3.

Principal Secretary, Panchayati Raj, D K Singh on Wednesday said: “No person will be allowed to return to Odisha without registration on the government portal. It is being constructed. The registration process will begin from Friday”.

He said either the person can register on the portal himself or a family member can do it for him/her. The government will make arrangements to take the returnees from railway stations and bus stands to their respective panchayats.

Singh said nearly 7000 temporary medical camps with 2 lakh beds have been set up at the panchayats and they will be kept there.

The government is expecting more returnees for Ganjam and Kendrapada districts. Therefore, more arrangements will be done for them at respective panchayats, the official said adding that they will be allowed to go home after 14 days of quarantine.

A nodal officer will be in-charge in each of these medical camps, he said and added that that the website will contain their contact numbers. The government has not allowed home quarantine.
