Odisha Expected Yaas Cyclone amid the Raging Second Wave of Novel Corona Virus Disease,COVID-19 Pandemic.

Bhubaneswar:Odisha has started preparing for the possible cyclonic storm, Yaas, expected to turn the Bay of Bengal volatile within days, even amid the raging second wave of the novel corona virus disease (COVID-19) pandemic.

The Met department has forecast heavy rain along the Andaman and Nicobar islands on May 22 and 23. Rainfall will commence over Odisha, West Bengal, Meghalaya and Assam from May 25.

With sea conditions turning rough in the coming days, fishermen have been warned against venturing into the sea from May 21 onwards. Those at sea are advised to return to safety before May 23.

A low-pressure area is likely to form over North Andaman Sea and adjoining east-central Bay of Bengal around May 22, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) informed May 19. The depression will likely intensify into a Cylone and move north-westwards, entering West Bengal and Odisha on May 26.
