Odisha Electricity Tariff Unchanged for FY 2025-26, Rebates Announced for Digital Payments

Bhubaneswar: In a major relief for power consumers in Odisha, the Odisha Electricity Regulatory Commission (OERC) has announced that electricity tariffs for retail consumers will remain unchanged for the financial year 2025-26. The commission confirmed that the retail supply tariff structure would remain the same as in FY 2024-25.

As an incentive for digital transactions, consumers receiving electricity bills via SMS, email, or other electronic formats will get a Rs.10 rebate per bill. Additionally, prepaid meter users will benefit from a 4% rebate on prepaid amounts. A similar rebate will be extended to low-tension domestic and single-phase general-purpose consumers making digital payments.

Consumers with smart meters and a contract demand exceeding 10 kW—except those in irrigation, pumping and agriculture – will be eligible for a 20-paisa-per-unit rebate during designated solar hours under the Time-of-Day (ToD) scheme.

While the bulk supply price for power distribution companies (DISCOMs) has been revised, the impact on end consumers remains minimal. The tariff hikes for DISCOMs are as follows:

  • TPNODL: Increased by 10 paise per unit
  • TPWODL: Increased by 5 paise per unit
  • TPSODL: Increased by 10 paise per unit
  • TPCODL: No change

The cost of power purchase has risen from Rs.320.95 paise per unit to Rs.326.91 paise per unit. Meanwhile, the all-Odisha average bulk supply price has increased from Rs.328.20 paise per unit to Rs.330.66 paise per unit. The transmission tariff has also been revised from Rs.24 per unit to Rs.25.50 paise per unit for FY 2025-26.
