Odisha Crime Branch Records Statements of Naba Das’ Family in Murder Probe

Jharsuguda: A team from the Odisha Crime Branch visited the residence of slain BJD leader and former Health Minister Naba Kishore Das in Jharsuguda to record statements from his family members regarding his murder case.

According to sources, a two-member team, led by new investigating officer ASP Vijay Mallick and DSP Diptimayee Mallick, visited Das’ residence in Sarbahal. The officials recorded statements from his daughter, Deepali Das and son, Bishal Das.

Notably, the Crime Branch had earlier summoned both siblings for questioning in connection with the high-profile murder but they had failed to appear.

The development comes days after Naba Das’ wife, Minati Das, reportedly sought an appointment with Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi to discuss the ongoing probe. She is said to have sent her request via e-mail and post.

Naba Kishore Das was shot at by a police officer on January 29, 2023, in Brajarajnagar, Jharsuguda district. He succumbed to his injuries at a private hospital in Bhubaneswar. The case remains under investigation.
