Odisha Colleges Ordered to Upload Harassment Case Details on She-Box

Bhubaneswar: In a decisive step to strengthen safety and accountability in educational institutions, the Odisha Higher Education Department has issued a directive mandating all higher education institutions to upload harassment complaint data on the She-Box portal by August 1, 2025.

The move follows a recent tragic incident at Fakir Mohan College in Balasore, prompting the state to tighten monitoring of gender-safety mechanisms. She-Box is an online platform developed by the Union Ministry of Women and Child Development for registering and tracking complaints related to sexual harassment at the workplace.

As per the directive, colleges and universities must submit details of their Internal Complaints Committees (ICC), Local Committees (if applicable), the number of complaints received under the Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace Act, 2013, and the number of cases resolved.

Officials say the initiative aims to enhance transparency, ensure strict implementation of anti-harassment policies, and foster a safer environment for students and staff across Odisha’s campuses. Non-compliance may attract scrutiny and administrative action.
