Odisha CM Naveen Patnaik Resigns After Defeat of BJD in Assembly Polls
Bhubaneswar: Odisha CM Naveen Patnaik submitted his resignation to Governor Raghuvar Das on Wednesday ending his long reign of 24 years and three months in the state.
He left his residence Naveen Nivas at 11:30 am and reached the Raj Bhavan to hand over his resignation letter to Governor Raghubar Das.
Naveen Patnaik took oath as Chief Minister for the first time on March 5, 2000.
Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, despite the defeat of BJD, is still in the hearts of the millions of Odias. He was the longest-serving CM in Odisha. He will also be remembered as the second longest-serving CM in the country. The 77-year-old Naveen Patnaik hardly required 78 days more to enter into record books to surpass the longest tenure as CM, a record that continues in the name of Sikkim’s former CM Pawan Kumar Chamling, which did not happen.
