Odisha CM Majhi Condemns Burning of Biju Patnaik’s Statue in Balangir
Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has strongly denounced the desecration of former Chief Minister and legendary leader Biju Patnaik’s statue in Patnagarh, located in Balangir district.
Terming the act as disgraceful, Majhi said it reflected a “sick mentality” and vowed stringent action against the culprit.
The Chief Minister has instructed the police to conduct a thorough investigation and ensure that the accused faces the full force of the law. One individual has already been arrested in connection with the incident. Majhi also stressed that if any conspiracy is suspected behind this act, it must be exposed and dealt with accordingly.
Reaffirming the state’s commitment to honouring its iconic figures, the CM said the government holds the highest respect for Biju Patnaik. Recalling recent celebrations held on March 5 to mark the legendary leader’s birth anniversary, Majhi said he had personally taken part in paying homage. He also noted that the state will observe Biju Patnaik’s death anniversary on April 17.
