Odisha Assembly Monsoon Session: 30 Platoons Deployed, Multi-Layer Security in Place
Bhubaneswar: With the Odisha Legislative Assembly’s monsoon session set to begin on Thursday, Commissionerate Police has put in place an elaborate three-tier security cover to ensure smooth conduct of proceedings.
As many as 30 platoons of police personnel will be deployed in and around the Assembly to maintain law and order. Barricades have been erected across key points, while vehicle movement has been restricted on roads surrounding the Assembly. Only emergency vehicles will be permitted through the regulated zones.
The security setup also includes a striking force, Special Task Force (STF), bomb disposal units, dog squads and fire brigade support. CCTV cameras have been installed at the Assembly, Lower PMG and Rabindra Mandap for round-the-clock monitoring. In addition, five temporary control rooms have been set up at the Assembly gate, Rabindra Mandap gate and Lower PMG to ensure quick response to any untoward incident.
Reports suggest that armed security personnel will be stationed around the Assembly, while plainclothes officers will keep watch for suspicious activities. Director General of Police Y B Khurania is expected to review the arrangements ahead of the session.
