Bhubaneswar: The Ministry of Coal issued allocation orders for three coal mines in Odisha’s Angul district on Thursday. Machhakata (Revised) coal mine was allocated to NLC India Limited, while Gujarat Mineral Development Corporation Limited received Kudanali Lubri, and Sakhigopal-B Kakurhi was allotted to TANGEDCO.

Out of the three, one is a fully explored mine and the other two are partially explored. The combined Peak Rated Capacity (PRC) of these mines is 30 MTPA, with total geological reserves of 2,194.10 million tonnes.

These mines are projected to generate Rs 2,991.20 crore annually, based on PRC and attract a capital investment of Rs 4,500 crore. The operations are expected to create employment for around 40,560 people, both directly and indirectly.

To date, the government has issued vesting orders for 95 coal mines, with a total PRC of 202.50 MTPA, contributing an estimated Rs 29,516.84 crore in annual revenue and creating jobs for 2,73,773 individuals.
