“NTPC Talcher Kaniha Concludes Girl Empowerment Mission (GEM) 2025 Summer Workshop

Tacher,( Kanhia):The Girl Empowerment Mission (GEM) 2025 Summer Workshop concluded with a vibrant and inspiring closing ceremony at NTPC Kaniha on 10th June 2025. The four-week long residential program, which commenced on 13th May 2025, aimed to empower young girls aged 10–12 through confidence-building, leadership development, and life skills training.

The chief guest for the ceremony was Shri K.N. Reddy, Executive Director of NTPC Talcher Kaniha, with Smt. Kariveda Srivani, President of Tanvi Sangam, graced the occasion as the Guest of Honour. Senior NTPC executives, including Shri Ch. Satya Rama Krishna, GM (O&M), Shri S.S. Rao, GM (Maint. & ADM), and Shri Navneet Kumar, Head of HR, were also present. Union & Associations representatives, members of Tanvi Sangam, teachers, principals from local government schools, and the parents of the participants were also present at the event.

The ceremony commenced with a warm welcome address by Shri Navneet Kumar, Head of HR, followed by a captivating video that showcased the transformation of the GEM participants from their initial stages to the final outcomes, which were marked by personal growth.

During the GEM Closing Ceremony,  the cultural program featured a series of enthusiastic and creative performances by the GEM 2025 participants, highlighting girls’ hidden talents.   Highlights included a colorful welcome dance, a graceful yoga demonstration, a Nukkad Natak on girl empowerment, and a ramp walk themed “Aim in Life,” where students confidently expressed their ambitions. The event also featured a group rendition of “Hum Honge Kamyab,” a self-defense demonstration, and energetic folk dances that captivated the audience. Ten girls were appreciated for their special talents under the GEM Miss Awards.

In his address, Shri K.N. Reddy expressed gratitude to the parents, students, union associations, principals, teachers, volunteers, and all participants. He reflected on the transformation of GEM girls observed from the beginning of the program to its conclusion and appreciated everyone’s contributions. He motivated parents to continue supporting their daughters’ education and empowerment and specially thanked ‘Tanvi Sangam’ Ladies Club for their unwavering support throughout the program.The event concluded with the felicitation of teachers and representatives from TCSPL, distribution of mementos to GEM students, and a heartfelt vote of
