NTPC Kaniha Organizes Two-Day Disaster Management Workshop with NDRF
Talcher : NTPC Talcher Kaniha, in collaboration with the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) 3rd Battalion, Mundali, Cuttack, successfully conducted a two-day Disaster Management Planning workshop from 6th to 7th August 2025. The event was inaugurated by Shri K. Narasimbha Reddy, ED (Talcher Kaniha), who emphasized the importance of disaster preparedness for plant safety and community resilience.
In this workshop, around 95 participants took part, including NTPC executives at various levels, as well as personnel from the CISF Fire Wing and Security. The NDRF team conducted interactive sessions covering both natural and man-made disasters. Key focus areas included cyclone and flood preparedness, lightning safety, first aid and CPR for adults and infants, evacuation techniques during building collapses and earthquakes, and handling of snake and dog bites. Participants also learned how to use improvised life-saving devices in emergency situations.
The training included live demonstrations simulating real-life disaster scenarios, providing participants hands-on experience to enhance their readiness and response capabilities. A major highlight was the mock drill on Hydrochloric Acid (HCL) leakage from a storage tank. This drill, jointly executed by NTPC, NDRF, and CISF, showcased the coordinated emergency response, including timely arrival of ambulance and fire services and prompt rescue operations, earning appreciation from all stakeholders.
The workshop concluded successfully, enhancing the disaster management capacity of NTPC employees and CISF personnel. Participants appreciated the practical nature of the sessions and recognized the value of continued collaboration with the NDRF in strengthening NTPC’s safety-first culture.
