Bhubabeswar: On the occasion of the 72nd Republic Day of India, the popular micro blog platform Twitter released special emogies for the address to the nation by the President of India. The same was announced by Twitter India via a quote tweet on a tweet put out by Rashtrapati Bhawan.
Reacting sharply to the same, eminent socio-political leader and Chairman of Smt. Nandini Satpathy Memorial Trust (SNSMT) Shri. Suparno Satpathy expressed his displeasure. Shri. Satpathy flagged the matter with Twitter, that his language Odia had not been included in the list of vernacular languages released with the special emoji for the 72nd Republic Day of India.
Odia is one of the oldest language. It is a classical language. In fact Orissa or Odisha is one of the first states of contemporary India to have been formed on linguistic basis.
This non inclusion of Odia by Twitter has not been taken easily by many Odias.
