NEW LIFE FOR JOSEPH TIRKEY THROUGH ADVANCED REHABILITATION CENTRE (ARC)

ROURKELA: Advanced Rehabilitation Centre (ARC) which was inaugurated in District Headquarter Hospital, Sundergarh few months back is catering to the need of seven districts of Odisha.
The recent service was rendered one person from Sambalpur named Joseph Tirkey of Mahulamunda of Smabalpur. Life is changed now for this gentleman who had lost his one leg 24 years back in 1996 while travelling by train, accidentally he slipped and his right leg was under the train. He had lost his one leg which is one of the important limbs for movement. Since then he had been suffering like anything his education was stopped and had to live with a support stick. Joseph came to know from a lady working as ANM that there is a Advanced Rehabilitation Centre at Sundergarh taking care of people of his type where advanced artificial limbs are made available absolutely free. He then with his father and his friend Jaychandra Choudhury reached ARC, Sundergarh and gave order for his leg after proper documentation.
Recently he was asked to come and been given the modernized advanced artificial leg. This artificial leg was fixed to his body and proper training was also given how to operate and to maintain with this artificial human leg. He is now very happy and thinking as if he gets a new life after so long years. This facility has been rendering service to many people in need in the nearest districts which is really required. Even, Robotic Physiotherapy is also given after generating new limb through a design processed through computer and then developed it as per the need, said the Collector Sundergarh, Nikhil Pavan Kalyan.
He also said, he directed the Rourkela Municipal Corporation and other senior officers of different Blocks of the district to prepare a list of disabled persons who are in need of this service so that this ARC can be able to provide them artificial limbs and other associated things for their healthy life.There are some phone numbers where the people in need can contact the ARC and these numbers are 7327815125 or helpline no-011-41182138.
