Naveen visits Tikiri, asks effectiveness of govt schemes & begs vote
Badal kumar Tah, Rayagada, May 5: Tikiri meeting was the third of the marathon meetings attended by Chief Minister Naveen Pattanaik after meetings in Koraput and Nabarangapur last Saturday. His chopper arrived at Masuripadar Chowk near Tikiri exactly by 3.40 PM as per schedule. Accompanied by 5T Chairman V K Pandian, Naveen was taken from the chopper by a four wheeler directly to the stage where BJD party candidates namely Kousalya Hikaka as Koraput MP, Jagannath Saraka as Bissam Cuttack MLA, Raghunath Gamango as Gunupur MLA, Anusuya Majhi as Rayagada MLA, BJD party district president N Bhaskar Rao, BJD party Rayagada constituency in-charge Krushna Mahapatra & MLA Makaranda Muduli were present.
After Bhaskar Rao’s welcome speech, the prospective candidates spoke about the govt programmes initiated by Naveen Govt. Then Naveen sought blessings of the people assembled and appealed to vote for BJD and conch without taking names of any single candidate. He then asked the public about effectiveness of programmes initiated by his Govt like Mamata Yojana, Laxmi Bus, PDS rice, Kaila scheme for farmers, Madhu Babu pension scheme, Mission Shakti, Hostel & Scholarship schemes, etc; but misrepresented the scheme Biju Swasthya Kalyan Yojana(BSKY) as BKSY. Due to his feeble voice, Pandian repeated those questions again posed by Naveen and added some other initiated by Naveen Govt like new Degree College in Kashipur, Bissam Cuttack, Chandili & Muniguda NAC declaration, Temple-Masjid-Church-Community Centres construction, etc.
Around 10-15 thousand people congregated including many adolescents, who mainly came to see the helicopter. Nevertheless, Naveen’s presence in the hinterland like Tikiri has boosted the morale of the party workers and supporters in the midst of internal cleavages in district BJD party. Eight platoons of police force led by two Additional Superintendents of Police were engaged to look into the law and order. Krushna Mahapatra gave of vote of thanks.
In yet another development, as a part of his two day visit to Rayagada, Ex-Chief Minister of Tripura has paid a visit to Gunupur and addressed the district BJP leaders including MP candidate Kaliram Majhi, MLA candidate Trinath Gomango and other leaders like Pramod Sahu & Shibaji Das. He has met the party workers in Rayagada and questioned the dominance of Non-odia outsiders in Odisha politics deterring growth of the state.
