Odisha won’t tolerate Banks’ negligence in Credit Disbursement

Bhubaneswar: On Thursday through a Video Conference Chief Minister, Odisha Naveen Patnaik expressed his displeasure over statements given by different departments on re-opening of schools and colleges in the state.

Patnaik said that a decision on reopening of educational institutes will be taken after considering all aspects,prior to this we need to give priority on Vacine, restruring of the infrastrucre, to generate source for Employment, like many tasks are yet to complete. There has been satisfactory improvement in the corona situation across the State, he said.

As a nationwide vaccination programme is likely to start soon, Naveen said Odisha is ready with the database and logistics to smoothen the COVID-19 vaccination activities.

However, Naveen said the people should adhere to all the COVID-19 norms even after the arrival of vaccines. This is because the vaccination programme may take around one year to fight the virus. He also suggested making people aware about the vaccination programme.

The Chief Minister said that the Sero-Survey will be undertaken in Ganjam, Nayagarh and Koraput districts by December 31, while the next round of Sero-Survey will take place in Bhubaneswar and Cuttack in January.

The corona virus cases tally increased to 3,22,642 in Odisha on Thursday, while a total of 1,794 citizens have lost their lives due to the deadly virus till date according to source.

Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik further said, the State Government will not tolerate if any banks found neglecting credit disbursement to different livelihood programmes launched to counter impact of the prevailing COVID-19 pandemic.

The State Government will force to lodge complaint against the erring banks if found neglecting credit disbursement, Naveen said. The State Government on December 22 will write to the Finance Ministry on the erring banks, adding that Naveen has asked the State administration and to District administration to remain alert towards the challenges posed to the State’s economy.

Notably, Higher Education secretary Saswat Mishra has said that colleges across the state might reopen in January. Similarly school and mass education minister Samir Ranjan Dash has also said that classes for 10 and 12 students will reopen in January for which Naveen Patnaik has shown his displeasure over Statements (!).
