National sports day celebrated by Panposh Sports Association

ROURKELA: national Sports day is celebrated every year on 29th August remembering the famous Hockey player of India the legend, late Dhyan Chand. This year it has become more prudent to observe this day because in 2020, Tokyo Olympic Indian Hockey team had bagged the Bronze medal and the women Hockey team had given a tough fight for the bronze but lost to UK. Moreover the prestigious Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna Award been named after the legendary hockey Player, Late. Dhyan Chand and it will be known as Major Dhyan Chand Khel Ratna Award. Hence, it’s a special privilege to celebrate National Sports Day this time with all enthusiasm and happiness. Panposh Sports Association which is the pioneer sports organization of Rourkela has organized such event like every year and celebrated with all vigour and enthusiasm. This time they have organized the same at Sahenai Mandap, Sector- 2 with all covid protocol. All the leading sports personalities have said about how to develop sports from grass root level and shared their joy for the podium finish by our athletes and participants in different events. The National Sports day was celebrated under the leadership of Mr. Rashmit Sahani, the President of the organizations and one of the leading educationists of the city. Initially 2 minutes silence was observed for the sports personalities who have lost their lives this year and they were, Cricketer, Rabi Panda, Weight lifter, Madhulita Rout, Boxer, Sapan Deb, Footballer, Kishore Das, Basketball and Handball player, Rakesh Mishra, Bodybuilder, Ashok Patnaik and the sports orgnaiser, Mohan Das. In the function Mr. Arabida Patra, the national level Kabadi Player and Kabadi Referee was present as Chief Guest where other eminent personalities who sat one dias were Dhiren Das, Legal adviser of the organization, Sushant Mohanty, Journalist and General Secretary of the Association, Mahendra Mishra, Journalist and Vice-President of the Association. This occasion was celebrated by various guests who have kept their views and experiences over a period of one and half an hour’s and they were Meri Purty, Sonam Purty, Ashok Prasad, Satyananda Behera, Journalist of ‘The Samaj’ and few others. The entire program was well organized and Mahendra Mishra of the organization had acted as the key presenter of the event and gave many good insights of sports and its history. Many leading journalists and emerging players of different sports were also present in this occasion and have supported this event.
