NATIONAL KHO-KHO CHAMPION MAGAI MAJHI FELICITATED

Rayagada : Rayagada lass Magai Majhi has brought laurels being part of the winner national kho-kho team. The Indian women’s Kho Kho team has created history. The host country India has won both the men’s and women’s categories of the first World Cup held at Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium in New Delhi.
The Indian Kho Kho team achieved this success by defeating Nepal in the final. Magai Majhi from Kashipur block of Rayagada district joined the Indian women’s team. Magai was felicitated by Collector Parul Patawari, who wished her a prosperous future. Magai, a tribal girl from an interior Kashipur block joined the Indian women’s Kho Kho team and played in the first World Cup. Magai felt extremely happy that she has made the country, state and district proud.
Magai is the daughter of Damu Majhi and Budhwari Majhi from Kasnadara village in Chandragiri panchayat of Kashipur block. She received training in Kho Kho at Bhubaneswar. As a result, after many years of struggle, Kho Kho was played in the Indian team and became famous in the world. Hard work leads to success, said Magai. District Sports Officer Sheikh Alenur, District Information and Public Relations Officer Basant Kumar Pradhan, other officials, employees and media representatives were present at the felicitation function.
Similarity Magai was felicitated by Rayagada MLA Appalaswamy Kadraka by arranging a road show in Rayagada town. Kadraka demanded a sports complex and training centre in Rayagada.
