Murshidabad Violence: Bengal STF Nabs Prime Accused’s Sons in Odisha

Bhubaneswar : The Special Task Force (STF) of the West Bengal Police has detained two sons of Ziaul Sheikh, a prime accused in the recent double murder in Murshidabad district, from Jharsuguda.

These detentions are part of a broader investigation into the violence that erupted in Murshidabad on April 11.

According to sources, Sheikh is accused of orchestrating and inciting a violent mob attack that led to the deaths of Haragobindo Das and his son Chandan Das on April 12. CCTV footage and mobile records place Sheikh at the crime scene, solidifying his connection to the incident.

The arrests mark a significant development in the ongoing probe, with over 100 FIRs registered and nearly 300 individuals taken into custody. Many families displaced by the violence sought temporary refuge in Malda but have now started returning home.

Law enforcement authorities continue their efforts to maintain peace in the region while ensuring justice for the victims of the recent unrest.
