Modi Leaves Dhaka after 2-days’Visit, Offers Prayers at Kali Temple in Bangladesh

Dhaka: Visiting Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday offered prayers at the Jeshoreshwari temple dedicated to Goddess Kali in Bangladesh’s Satkhira district.The temple is a famous Hindu pilgrimage site located in Ishwaripur, a village in Shyamnagar Upazila.
According to Hindu mythology, the Jeshoreshwari temple is one of the 51 ‘Shakti Peethas’ scattered across India and the neighbouring countries. Modi, the first foreign Head of State to visit the temple, was received by devotees with conch shells. The Prime Minister offered a gold crown and a red Banarasi saree to the deity.
This is Modi’s first foreign visit after the onset of the Covid-19 pandemic earlier last year.
On Friday, he participated in the celebrations of the country’s 50th year of liberation from Pakistan.
Modi and Hasina enjoyed the music of legendary classical vocalist Pandit Ajoy Chakravarty at the National Parade Square in Dhaka, along with the President Abdul Hamid, and others.
Modi leaves Dhaka after 2-day visit –A special flight carrying Narendra Modi and his delegation left Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport here on Saturday night after the completion of Modi’s two-day visit to Bangladesh. Bangladesh Foreign Minister A K Abdul Momen saw him off at the airport.
The Indian Prime Minister had arrived in Dhaka on Friday on a two-day visit to Bangladesh to attend the celebrations of the country’s 50th year of liberation from Pakistan and the 100th birth anniversary of its founder Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the father of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
During his visit, Modi gifted 109 ambulances and 12 lakh Covid-19 vaccine doses to Bangladesh. The Indian Prime Minister handed over the keys of the ambulances to his Bangladesh counterpart Sheikh Hasina during a visit to her office on Saturday evening.
Bangladesh and India on Saturday also signed five MoUs at a meeting held at the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) in Dhaka. In addition, several projects were also inaugurated during the concluding day of Modi’s two-day visit to Bangladesh.
