New Delhi:Prime Minister Narendra Modi was seen continuing the tradition of wearing colourful turban for the 71st Republic Day on Sunday.
PM Modi wore a saffron ‘bandhej’, that is a print developed using tie and dye method practised mainly in states of Rajasthan and Gujarat. Turbans have become the prime minister’s attire on important days including the Republic Day and Independence Day.
Last year on the occasion of Independence Day at Red Fort, PM Modi had sported a multi-coloured turban.
In 2015, he wore a yellow turban with crisscrossed lines in different shades of the same colour along with a few in red and deep green lines in the same print. In 2016, for his appearance at the Red Fort, he chose a tie and dye turban in hues of pink and yellow.
In 2017 too, he went on to make an appearance in a turban that presented a mix of bright red and yellow with crisscrossed golden lines all over it.
