‘Mo Bus’ Driver & Conductor Found Drunk During Duty Sacked by CRUT

Bhubaneswar: The Capital Region Urban Transport (CRUT) on Saturday sacked a driver and a conductor of ‘Mo Bus’ driver as they were allegedly found drunk during duty hours.

They were discovered to have consumed alcohol by the enforcement team of the CRUT during a random check on Friday night.

The CRUT dismissed both these employees for breaching essential safety protocols. The CRUT authorities also recommended suspension of the license of the erring driver for six months.

In another incident, CRUT has suspended two more Mo Bus employees—a driver and a conductor—for two months due to indiscipline while on duty.

“We are implementing enhanced safety measures, including random alcohol testing and improved driver training programs, to strengthen safety standards across Mo Bus operations,” A CRUT statement said.

The CRUT has decided to start routine breath analyser tests to curb reckless driving by drunk ‘Mo Bus’ drivers. The tests will be conducted at the starting point and during the journey for all drivers of ‘Mo Bus’ to detect alcohol consumption following allegations that several accidents were being caused due to reckless driving by Mo Bus drivers.

CRUT has warned to revoke the license of errant drivers if they are found driving in an inebriated state.
