Minor Girl Raped in Ganjam, Accused Held

Berhampur,(02/07/25):A minor survivor age of 11 years 6 months) was allegedly raped(!!). by a local youth in a village under the Golanthara police limits in Odisha’s Ganjam district.
A 22-year-old man was arrested by the police from a village under the jurisdiction of the Golanthara police station on Tuesday over the charge of raping the minor police said.
The incident, which occurred just days after the previous assault, made headlines across the state, intensified community outrage and raised fresh questions about the safety of minors in the region With the wounds of the Gopalpur case still fresh, this second brutal incident underscores the urgent need for stricter enforcement of child protection laws, community awareness, and proactive intervention by authorities.
In this context, Golanthara police registered a case vide the case PS Case No.280 Dtd. 30.06.2025 U/s 64/65(2)/351(2)/3(5) BNS/ Sec 6 of POCSO Act, 2012.
Police arrested the accuse who has been identified as- Bhubana Pradhan, (22) years , PS-Golanthara, Dist-Ganjam.
The police said about the factual of the case:-On 30.06.2025 based on the written report of mother of victim the instant case has been registered and investigated into..
Investigation revealed that the Complainant along with her husband daily go for work leaving their three children at their house to maintain their livelihood. Survivor is the minor middle daughter of Complainant.
On 28.06.2025 morning at about 9.00 AM, in the routine manner, the Complainant along with her husband went out for work after their breakfast. Her minor daughter was alone in their house. At about 11.00 AM, her daughter had been to the rear side house of sister of the Complainant to fetch some guava to eat.
Accused Bhubana Pradhan of her village who happens to be the cousin brother of victim reach there and having sexual intention in his mind, took the victim near the latrine room of the school building and committed forcible sexual intercourse with her under.
Listening to her shouting her co-villager Bhagaban Pradhan reached there. As Bhagaban Pradhan reached there accused Bhubana Pradhan decamped from the spot leaving the minor victim there. Being informed by the victim, the Complainant along with her husband returned home.
Her daughter disclosed the incident to her and her husband.
The medical examination of the minor survivor has been completed and produced before CWC for her counselling. The accused has been arrested and forwarded to court today.
The investigation of the case is in progress.
