Memorandum to PM by BMS Rayagada unit through a peaceful march

Rayagada, February 26: The 21st Triennial All India Conference of Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh(BMS), held at Puri witnessed extensive deliberations on pressing issues affecting workers across the country. After detailed discussions, several resolutions in the form of demands were unanimously adopted.

The principal demands included Universal enforcement of labour laws for all sectors and all sections of workers without exception, in the true spirit of Antyodaya, Rectification of workers’ concerns in the two Labour Codes, namely the Industrial Relations Code, 2020 and the Occupational Safety, Health and Working Conditions Code, 2020, Revival and strengthening of the tripartite mechanism immediate convening of the Indian Labour Conference and reconstitution of various tripartite committees to ensure that they function regularly, effectively, and in a practical manner for the welfare of workers, Enhancement of the minimum pension under EPS-95 from 1,000 to 7,500, along with Dearness Relief, Immediate increase in the threshold limits for coverage under ESI and EPF, Enhancement of the eligibility ceiling for bonus under the Payment of Bonus Act, 1965, Regularisation of scheme workers and contract workers in the true spirit of Articles 14, 15, 16, and 21 of the Constitution of India, Immediate lifting of the ban on general recruitment and assurance of guaranteed employment without uncertainty or insecurity in jobs.

In addition, several sector-specific resolutions aimed at safeguarding and advancing the interests of workers across diverse industries were deliberated upon and unanimously adopted during the Conference. Accordingly, this memorandum is submitted seeking intervention and immediate action to address and fulfil the above demands in the larger interest of the working community.

A peaceful rally consisting of hundreds of labour leaders representing Anganwadis, ASHAs, Sanitation workers, vegetable vendors, security personnel, etc was held from Kali Puja chowk BDO office to Collectorate Rayagada.

The memorandum was submitted by a team of leaders namely Jogeswar Das, State Vice President, BMS, Neha Singh from Association, Usha Rani Dash, Jayanti Padmalaya Sahu from Anganwadi Association, Gitanjali Hial,  Tamal Sahukar, Sundar Rao Kadraka & Ganesh Sahu from BMS to PM and Labour Minister, GOI through District Collector Rayagada. On behalf of the district collector, deputy collector received the memorandum and assured to send it to concerned authorities.
